Holographic correspondence between electrodynamics in three and four dimensions
We show that correlators of the gauge field in 3D electrodynamics with N flavors of massless matter can be obtained, in the leading order of the large N expansion, from solutions of free classical electrodynamics in a 4D half-space for which the 3D space is the boundary. The Abelian gauge fields of the two theories are dual to each other. We conjecture that for 3D scalar electrodynamics this du...
متن کاملEvolution of fermion pairing from three to two dimensions.
We follow the evolution of fermion pairing in the dimensional crossover from three-dimensional to two-dimensional as a strongly interacting Fermi gas of ^{6}Li atoms becomes confined to a stack of two-dimensional layers formed by a one-dimensional optical lattice. Decreasing the dimensionality leads to the opening of a gap in radio-frequency spectra, even on the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer side o...
متن کاملFermion Doubling and Berenstein–Maldacena–Nastase Correspondence
We show that the string bit model suffers from doubling in the fermionic sector. The doubling leads to strong violation of supersymmetry in the limit N → ∞. Since there is an exact correspondence between string bits and the algebra of BMN operators even at finite N , doubling is expected also on the side of super-Yang–Mills theory. We discuss the origin of the doubling in the BMN sector.
متن کاملStrongly coupled lattice gauge theory with dynamical fermion mass generation in three dimensions
We investigate the critical behaviour of a three-dimensional lattice χUφ3 model in the chiral limit. The model consists of a staggered fermion field, a U(1) gauge field (with coupling parameter β) and a complex scalar field (with hopping parameter κ). Two different methods are used: 1) fits of the chiral condensate and the mass of the neutral unconfined composite fermion to an equation of state...
متن کاملEntanglement entropy for a Dirac fermion in three dimensions: vertex contribution
In three dimensions there is a logarithmically divergent contribution to the entanglement entropy which is due to the vertices located at the boundary of the region considered. In this work we find the corresponding universal coefficient for a free Dirac field, and extend a previous work in which the scalar case was treated. The problem is equivalent to find the conformal anomaly in three dimen...
